Learning Commons

The Learning Commons at NMS consists of the library and the Innovation Space (formally the computer lab).

The library houses over 13,000 books, a story area, a large group instruction area and plenty of nooks and crannies for small group and independent work.

It doesn't matter what name you use - library, media center, library learning commons, our goal is to provide a place that is comfortable and inspires exploration and collaboration; a place where students can construct new knowledge and meaning from the world around them; a place where students can move beyond their comfort zone. It might be as simple as suggesting a different book genre or as complicated as figuring how little bits can be used to teach an electricity lesson. Whatever we are doing we are doing it with joy.
